Three Handouts for Exercise
Everybody knows exercise is a good thing.
If it was a pill, everyone would take it! These handouts can help you explain, prescribe,
and support exercise for your patients. Of course, every patient still
needs to be assessed for any risks that might be associated with starting
an exercise program.
1. Exercise:
Can We Afford Not To?
A
1-page summary of the benefits -- reads
easily, clearly "makes the case".
2. Putting
Exercise into Practice
Clear
"how to" instructions for those
ready to start.
3. If
At First You Don't Succeed . . .
Reinforce and start again
-- another 1-page "booster".
All were created by Carol DeFrancesco, MALS, RD -- an exercise and nutrition specialist with Oregon Health Sciences University's Health Promotion and Sports Medicine program. Through the Center for Women's Health, she and her colleagues offer Resources for Weight Management, including internet links to weight management sites.
